Art
At Bletchingley Village Primary School and Nursery, our aim is to nurture every child’s creativity, imagination, and visual literacy, encouraging them to think and act like artists and designers. Following a spiral curriculum, we provide an inspiring environment where pupils build on their early creative experiences to develop the confidence to experiment and communicate meaning through Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, and Craft and Design.

Our curriculum empowers children to master technical skills while gaining a deep theoretical understanding of diverse artists, designers, and art movements. Through the use of sketchbooks, pupils document their personal creative journeys—from generating initial ideas to refining techniques and evaluating their work. By fostering a natural inquisitiveness and a respect for art in all its forms, we ensure that all pupils can succeed in their learning and carry a lifelong passion for the subject with them.
