SMSC at Our School

At our school, we help children grow in lots of different ways – not just in their learning. SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development. Here’s what each part means:
spiritual
This is about exploring feelings, beliefs and values, and enjoying a sense of wonder about the world.
Example: Children might reflect during a class discussion, enjoy a moment of calm in assembly, or learn about nature in science.
Moral
This is about learning what is right and wrong, and understanding how our choices affect others.
Example: Talking about fairness in stories, learning to say sorry, or deciding together on class rules.
social
This is about learning how to get along with other people, work together and be part of a community.
Example: Working in a team during PE, helping a friend, or taking part in school council.
cultural
This is about learning and celebrating different traditions, customs and ways of life.
Example: Enjoying food from different countries, learning about festivals like Diwali or Christmas, or studying artists from around the world.
