WEEKLY NEWSLETTER- WC 30.06.2025

Despite being a short week, it’s been a busy one. Reception had a great trip to Gatton Park, and Year 3 represented the school wonderfully at the Singing Picnic. KS2 children were excited to explore the wider curriculum through VR headsets—an experience we have been able to arrange for next academic year.

We also welcomed our new Reception children for a stay-and-play session, including some from our nursery and others new to the school.

As we approach our staff training day, we’ll be reflecting on this year’s progress and planning next steps. Your input is valuable, so we hope to see many of you at the Parent Forum on Monday, 30th June at 5pm.

Enjoy the upcoming few days with your children.

Have a lovely weekend
Denise Coady

School Dinners are on Arbor

  • You need to select meal choices two weeks in advance. We cannot amend food choices after the cut-off as food is pre-ordered based on your selections.  If you haven’t done this yet, can you please do this going forward.  We cannot do this for parents.
  • For any choices that have not been made via Arbor and a packed lunch is not provided, your child will get the main meal option.
  • Please can you let your children know the option they will be having so it is not a surprise.
  •   For any queries, please contact G.Marks@bletchingleytlt.co.uk
  • A Special Sports Day Menu has also been created on Arbor for a choice of Packed lunch to be eaten on the field Thursday 3rd July, please make your selection as soon as possible. However, if you are attending and/or wish your child to bring in their own please also make that selection on Arbor. Thank you

Sports Day Charity Bake Sale

My name is Sophie, and I am a past student of Bletchingley Village School. I’m now a first-year Psychology student at the University of Lincoln, and I am fundraising for the Meningitis Research Foundation. Hopefully, I will be heading to Peru in the summer to trek the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu with the charity!

On the 3rd July, Sports Day at Bletchingley Village, I will be holding a bake sale for the charity with all home-baked goods (allergy information provided for all items).

Meningitis is a serious illness caused by the swelling of the meninges in the brain and spinal cord. It affects around 2.3 million people worldwide each year, killing 1 in 10 of those and leaving 1 in 5 of the remaining people with permanent side effects. Symptoms include but are not limited to a fever, vomiting, severe headache, stiff neck, seizures, confusion and being very sleepy, however symptoms in babies and very young children may differ.

Anyone can get meningitis, however some people are more at risk than others. Babies and young children are particularly high risk due to underdeveloped immune systems. In the UK, babies under 3months old are 70x more likely to contract bacterial meningitis than adults. Toddlers are the second most at risk group, followed closely by teenagers and young adults.

The risk of meningitis for students is why I am fundraising for this cause; it’s very close to my heart.

I really hope the school community is able to help me fundraise for this important cause – cakes, brownies and cookies will be available to buy for cash or donations to my Just Giving page online. Looking forward to seeing you there!
