Headteacher Update

It’s been another busy and productive week in school, made even more wintry by the cold weather settling in!
As always, we continue to enjoy learning outdoors, so please ensure children come to school with warm layers they can pop on when heading outside.

Fire Drill
We began the week with a scheduled fire drill, which ran smoothly. Everyone exited the building safely and within a good time. As part of our usual procedure, we have reviewed the drill and will make any small adjustments needed to ensure our processes remain as effective and safe as possible.

CEO Visit
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome our CEO, Rebecca Plaskitt, to school. She joined Mrs Coady on a learning walk and was very positive about what she saw. A range of subjects were taking place across the school, with children fully engaged in hands-on, practical learning.

ILP Staff Training

This week teachers received training on Individual Learning Plans (previously known as ISPs), ahead of the new format launching in January.

Site Safety and Lighting
With the evenings drawing in earlier, we have been reviewing the external lighting around school. Most lights are functioning well, but a few require attention from an electrician. We are arranging this as a priority.

Staff Update
We are sorry that some events had to be cancelled this week. Mrs Coady has unfortunately sustained an injury and is unable to be on site. From Monday, she will be working from home and can be contacted via email if needed. We thank you for your understanding.
Mrs Maisonneuve has joined our team and will be working within SLCN and KS1.

Safeguarding Update: Reminding Children About Safe Adults

This week we’ve been revisiting the idea of “safe adults” with pupils — the trusted people they can go to if they feel worried, unsure, or need help. A safe adult might be a parent or carer, a teacher, a family member, or another grown-up they know well and can rely on.

We encourage families to talk at home about:

  • Who your child’s safe adults are

  • When to ask for help, especially if something feels confusing or uncomfortable

  • The idea that no problem is too small to share with a trusted adult

Reinforcing this message helps children feel confident in speaking up and staying safe, both in school and beyond.

Count Down to Christmas and Help Families in need

This Christmas, Loveworks (a local food bank charity), is asking everyone to take part in their Reverse Advent Calendar. The calendar is a simple and meaningful way to make a difference in our community.

Instead of opening a door and taking out a treat each day, they are asking you to give one. Each day of Advent, place an item, such as a tin of soup or jar of pasta sauce into a box at home. By Christmas, you’ll have created a wonderful parcel of essentials that can help a local family or individual in need. Your parcel can then be delivered to a Loveworks donation point in the New Year.

For more information and to download your Reverse Advent Calendar follow this link Reverse Advent Calendar
