Headteacher Update
A Busy Week of Enriching Experiences
It has been another busy week at school, with lots of opportunities for the children that complement the curriculum. This has included a trip to the synagogue, a visit to The Light, and drama workshops in school. Alongside their class learning, the children have also begun preparing for the Nativity, the Music and Mince Pies event, and the Carol Concert.
Introducing Our New Learning Behaviours
Next term, we will be introducing a set of learning behaviours designed to complement and strengthen our existing school values. These behaviours will help children understand what effective learning looks and feels like, giving them clear guidance on how to approach challenges, stay engaged, and grow as confident learners. We have consulted with both staff and pupils to shape these behaviours. Below are examples of some of the ideas that have been put forward.
1. Being Ready to Learn
Arriving prepared with the right equipment.
Listening carefully and following instructions.
Settling quickly to tasks.
2. Being Resilient
Having a go, even when something feels tricky.
Learning from mistakes and not giving up.
Trying different strategies when stuck.
3. Being Reflective
Thinking about what went well and what could be improved.
Asking questions to deepen understanding.
Using feedback to make learning better.
4. Being Responsible
Taking care of belongings and school resources.
Taking ownership of behaviour and learning.
Working independently when appropriate.
5. Being Respectful
Listening to others’ ideas.
Taking turns and cooperating in group work.
Encouraging classmates and celebrating their successes.
6. Being Curious
Showing enthusiasm for learning new things.
Asking thoughtful questions.
Exploring ideas and making connections.
7. Being Collaborative
Working well with partners or small groups.
Sharing ideas and valuing others' contributions.
Helping peers when needed.
8. Being Focused
Staying on task and avoiding distractions.
Managing time well.
Completing work to the best of their ability.
We would now very much value the views of parents and carers as we move forward, and we warmly invite you to share any thoughts or feedback via email to head@bletchingleytlt.co.uk
Leadership Update
As I communicated last week, I am not currently in school, but I am able to respond to emails, and I have daily meetings with Mrs Fletcher where we discuss any issues that need attention. This arrangement will continue into next week.
Have a restful weekend
