Headteacher Update

It has been another busy and exciting week in school.

We began with Odd Socks Day to launch Anti-Bullying Week and to celebrate our differences. Throughout the week, the children have taken part in a range of activities to promote anti-bullying, and we ended by dressing up as Superheroes to highlight “Power for Good.” The week concluded with an Anti-Bullying Assembly, where the children reflected on what they had learnt.

On Tuesday, we marked Remembrance Day with a special assembly. Classes shared their learning, and we were very fortunate to have Mr. Todd join us to play The Last Post and Reveille, making it a particularly memorable occasion.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Parent Consultations this week. Working together in partnership is such an important part of each child’s learning journey.

We also held our first Pupil Parliament meeting. Members discussed improvements they would like to see across the school and will now return to their classes to gather further ideas before our next meeting in two weeks’ time.

In addition to our usual timetable, some year groups enjoyed visits to the Wildlife Centre and attended Fire Safety Talks, further enriching our curriculum.

A reminder that next Thursday at 9am we will be holding a Parent Forum, an opportunity to hear about the school’s progress and to contribute to our consultation on Learning Behaviours. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Finally, a couple of additional dates not yet added to the calendar:

  • Book Fair: Monday 30th November – Thursday 3rd December

  • PTA Pre-Loved Uniform Sale: Friday 28th November (further details to follow next week)

I hope that you have an enjoyable weekend

Remembrance Day

11.11.2025, our school came together this week in a spirit of respect and gratitude to observe Remembrance Day.

It was a meaningful time to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have stood for peace and freedom.

A very special thank-you to Mr. Todd for his beautiful performance, also thank you to everyone who helped make our ceremony so special—students, staff, families, and all participants who contributed their time, creativity, and support. Your dedication ensured that we honoured this important day with the dignity and thoughtfulness it deserves.

Together, we continue to remember, learn, and carry forward the values of compassion, unity, and hope.

Safeguarding Update

Some of our Year 5 and 6 children walk home on our own, here are some ideas to discuss with them to ensure that they keep themselves safe

Walk together
It is best to walk with a group of friends or an adult.

Remember these tips:

  • Walk with a friend/adult when possible.

  •  Ask your parents/other adults to help you pick a safe route; one that avoids dangers and is well lit.

  • Stick to the route you picked with your parents/adults. Don’t let friends talk you into shortcuts that are more dangerous, such as dark alleyways or paths.

  • Behave sensibly around traffic and other pedestrians.

  •  Never take lifts from people not arranged by your parents.

  • Talk to your parents and school about any bullying or other incidents that may happen during your walk.

  • Don’t walk with your headphones in/on and keep your phone out of sight.

Be seen

Remember, drivers may not be able to see you well. Always wear bright-coloured clothes and if it is dark or hard to see, use a torch or wear reflective clothing.

Look for traffic

Watch out for cars and lorries at every driveway and junction on your walk. Look for drivers in parked cars, they may be getting ready to move.

  1. Cross the street safely

  2. Stop at the kerb or edge of the street.

  3. Look left, right, left and behind you and in front of you for traffic.

  4. Wait until no traffic is coming and begin crossing.

  5. Keep looking for traffic until you have finished crossing.

  6. Walk, don’t run across the street.

  7. Obey traffic signs and use crossings where available

Penalty Notices to Address Poor Attendance at School

A Penalty Notice may be issued as an alternative to the prosecution of a parent/carer for their child’s unauthorised absence from school (absence without the agreement of the school or not covered by a medical note) and will be used by Surrey County Council in the following circumstances :-

Just to remind parents/carers that if they take their children out of school without authority for 5 or more days (which do not have to be consecutive), then the following will apply:

1. If you have not incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children in a rolling 3 year period since 19 August 2024, then the penalty notice will be charged at the rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. This will be reduced to £80.00 if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

 2. If you have incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children since 19 August 2024, the rolling 3 year period will be activated from the date of the first penalty notice and the second penalty notice will be charged at the flat rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. There will be no reduction for payment within 21 days. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

 3. If you have incurred 2 penalty notices relating to this child/children in the rolling 3 year period since the first penalty notice was issued, then you will NOT receive a third penalty notice – Surrey County Council will have no option but to consider a prosecution, per parent/carer per child, in the Magistrates Court under s 444 Education Act 1996.

Surrey County Council is not responsible for authorising pupil absence and therefore cannot withdraw any Penalty Notice requests without the written permission of the Headteacher.
